On August 12, 2012, I moved out of California to New York City. Prior to COVID, everyday I felt like a transplant and most days I had to remind myself that “I’m living in NEW YORK CITY.” During COVID, I witnessed New York City shut down around me – around all of us – and despite how grim I felt, I witnessed how tough New Yorkers were everywhere I looked.

"When talking about Vancouver there is a rightfully obvious highlight, the nature that surrounds and immerses the city. I am in awe of it daily and I hope and expect never to get used to it. No matter where you are in town you can catch a glimpse (at least) of the ocean, the mountains, or likely both at once. No matter what season you can find flowers blooming. Coming from the prairies, it never ceases to amaze.

Living in the hustle of our daily lives with the mantra of 'work hard and then work harder' plus a global pandemic, has led to burn out and imbalance. Maintaining a consistent wellness practice has become our focus for 2021 and beyond. 'Balance' will highlight rituals that help in our journey towards more self-care, more self-love and serve as a resource for others that can support along the way. Be well.
