Peer Portraits: Matthieu Rohm, MAN/WOMAN

Matthieu Rohm is the Sales and Operations Manager for MAN/WOMAN which is where we met him when we first started to exhibit with HNDSM. He has been in the role for almost four years now and enjoys the variety of both building relationships and managing the production of the show. It is always great to catch up with Matthieu. When we are in Paris, he always sends us recommendations and keeps an eye out for us at the shows. It has been lovely to learn more about him. Read more below!

HNDSM Celebrates 10 Years

HNDSM is ten! Amongst many other things, 2020 marks a decade of creation for us. To commemorate, we are releasing our signature New York cuff in a deep blue hue. Blue is associated with tranquility and calmness. As the colour of the ocean and the sky, blue represents endless possibilities and hope for big and bold dreams. ‘New York, New York’ is etched onto one edge of the cuff and is a tribute to the city that has raised HNDSM; the city we call home.

Peer Portraits: Dr. Karima Ladhani, Barakat Bundle

Dr. Karima Ladhani is the Founder & CEO of Barakat Bundle, a non-profit that creates life-saving care and education bundles for mothers and newborns in need in South Asia. She also serves as the Assistant Director of the Harvard Ministerial Leadership Program where she works with government ministers of health, education, and finance to support transformational human development in their countries. While HNDSM has partnered with Barakat Bundle for almost a year now, AJ and Karima have been friends since they were both in diapers! It is great to partner with friends that are spearheading such important initiatives and take this opportunity to give back.

Peer Portraits: Francesca Beltran

Francesca Beltran is a Mexican visual artist working across the genres of fashion, documentary and fine art photography. We first met Francesca at MAN show in New York three years ago, and immediately felt her genuine warmth and positivity. After ten years running around New York, she relocated to Paris last year, where she now lives with her boyfriend Roman and their beloved black cat, Toulouse. Nowadays, she's into meditation and outer space.

Paul Shkordoff is a writer/director based in Toronto, Canada. We first met Paul about ten years ago when he modeled for HNDSM in the early days of the brand. We immediately connected over a common love for fashion, retail and tattoos. Over the years, Paul has had a diverse career path and is now focussed on filmmaking.

Alice and Ed from Alice Made This create precision designed jewelry. They work with engineers and artisans to layer the precision of engineering with the beauty of hand work, creating unique accessories and jewelry. Every element of their process is considered to create timeless and beautiful products, with stories of past, present and future. They explore interesting techniques and materials from all sorts of industries to offer pieces with individuality.

We first met the couple as fellow exhibitors at Pitti Uomo in Florence a few years back. Watching them juggle parent life while building a thriving business has been inspiring. Enjoy learning more about two genuinely good people and catch a few of their family photos below!

Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Jonathan Pokasuwan handles sales for Reigning Champ and wings+horns as an account manager for CYC Design Corporation. The smile you see in his portrait really is true to his personality and vibe in real life. Jonathan is fun to be around, generous and always knows the little hole in the wall spot where you can get the most delicious kebabs.

Peer Portraits: Tim and Johnny, Cult

Tim and Johnny are the two man team behind Cult. What began over three years ago with Tim making t-shirts in this apartment is now a thoughtfully curated multi-brand boutique in Chicago. When Tim was ready to take the next step into physical retail, he convinced his longtime friend Johnny to move to Chicago and together they launched the store earlier this year. We caught up with them both a few weeks after retail reopened in the city.

Peer Portraits: Nicolas Israël from Centre Commercial & VEJA

Nicolas Israel, Retail Director of VEJA and Centre Commercial, has been a friend of HNDSM since our first tradeshow in Paris three years ago. He started from the bottom at Centre Commercial, an eclectic and thoughtful multibrand store in Paris. He began working on the retail floor and the web platform and quickly made his way up to being a buyer. Within a couple of years he was the head of Centre Commercial assisting with opening up another store on the left bank of Paris after they opened their kids store. Concurrently, VEJA was growing at a rapid pace with opening up shop in shops in department stores which has lead him to where he is now. He manages a team of more than fifty people, four stores, three shop in shops with a couple more in the works. Nico is a friendly face we are always happy to see!
